They Might Be Giants playing live April 21st, 2012!

You may not know this, but Record Store Day is right around the corner. And if I had to guess, if you didn't know that, you also don't know that it's a big deal. In fact, it's such a big deal that we've got giants coming to celebrate with us! They Might Be Giants, a family-friendly band with a Platinum album, 4 million records sales, and a Grammy will be performing for FREE in front of the Princeton Public Library! Then, if you're as big a fan of their work as we are, join us back at Princeton Record Exchange for an in-store signing with the legends themselves!

At this point, a very small percentage of you may be wondering, "wait, who are these guys?" I'm glad you asked - but the truth of the matter is you've probably heard them and just don't know it. Have you ever seen the intro to the hit TV show "Malcolm in the Middle"? That's them. Have you ever gotten "The Daily Show's" opening song stuck in your head? That's them. Have you ever sung "Istanbul Not Constantinople" to yourself in the shower? After seeing them, my bet's you will!

We'd like to mention a special thanks to our friends at Princeton Public Library who have graciously agreed to host the concert. For you out-of-towners, that'sHinds Plaza (65 Witherspoon St., just two blocks from the store). The performance will run from 6:00 to 6:45 pm no matter the weather. And if you'll allow me to misquote Yogi Berra, it ain't over til it's over after it's over. That's because after they finish, they'll meet-greet-and-sign autographs for fans at Princeton Record Exchange from around 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

In addition to TMBG, Record Store Day will also feature hundreds of limited edition vinyl records from the most talented musicians of our time. If you're interested in one of the limited edition releases, we highly recommend you arrive early to maximize your chances of buying a copy. It's first come, first serve, so we look forward to seeing you bright and early!

Daughtry Biography

Daughtry is an American platinum-selling rock band from North Carolina, formed by former American Idol contestant, Chris Daughtry, in 2006. Their self-titled debut album was released on November 21, 2006. The disc has proceeded to hit #1 on the Billboard 200, outsell Idol winner Taylor Hicks' debut effort, sell over a million units, and become the fastest selling debut rock album in Soundscan history. Naturally, the success of the debut album was quickly followed by dozens of Daughtry concerts and high price Daughtry ticket sales.

Former American Idol season 5 fourth-placer, Chris Daughtry, after he turned down Fuel's offer to make him lead singer of the band, stated that he would form a new band. On July 10, 2006 it was announced that Chris had signed with 19 Entertainment and RCA Records, which holds other American Idol finalists such as Kelly Clarkson, Bo Bice, and Katharine McPhee. The band Daughtry was forming was announced to be "Daughtry", after the singer's last name.
