They Might Be Giants playing live April 21st, 2012!
You may not know this, but Record Store Day is right around the corner. And if I had to guess, if you didn't know that, you also don't know that it's a big deal. In fact, it's such a big deal that we've got giants coming to celebrate with us! They Might Be Giants, a family-friendly band with a Platinum album, 4 million records sales, and a Grammy will be performing for FREE in front of the Princeton Public Library! Then, if you're as big a fan of their work as we are, join us back at Princeton Record Exchange for an in-store signing with the legends themselves!
At this point, a very small percentage of you may be wondering, "wait, who are these guys?" I'm glad you asked - but the truth of the matter is you've probably heard them and just don't know it. Have you ever seen the intro to the hit TV show "Malcolm in the Middle"? That's them. Have you ever gotten "The Daily Show's" opening song stuck in your head? That's them. Have you ever sung "Istanbul Not Constantinople" to yourself in the shower? After seeing them, my bet's you will!
We'd like to mention a special thanks to our friends at Princeton Public Library who have graciously agreed to host the concert. For you out-of-towners, that'sHinds Plaza (65 Witherspoon St., just two blocks from the store). The performance will run from 6:00 to 6:45 pm no matter the weather. And if you'll allow me to misquote Yogi Berra, it ain't over til it's over after it's over. That's because after they finish, they'll meet-greet-and-sign autographs for fans at Princeton Record Exchange from around 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
In addition to TMBG, Record Store Day will also feature hundreds of limited edition vinyl records from the most talented musicians of our time. If you're interested in one of the limited edition releases, we highly recommend you arrive early to maximize your chances of buying a copy. It's first come, first serve, so we look forward to seeing you bright and early!
Hinder Biography
Hinder is a rock group signed under Universal Records. They are of a post-grunge style, with many influences from classic rock bands, such as Guns & Roses. Their sound is characterized by soft drumlines and an almost monotone "grumbling" vocal style pioneered by such bands as Creed and Nickelback. The band formed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 2002, when guitarist Joe Garvey and drummer Cody Hanson discovered Austin Winkler singing for a cover band. Cody says he was "blown away" and "has the kind of charisma very few people have and that unique voice. You can't really compare him to anybody." The band was then formed as what would be Hinder. Hundreds of sold-out Hinder concerts later, the rest is history.

Hinder Bio Continued
They were immediately signed to an independent label, and released their first EP, Far From Close. It sold about 5,000 copies. This EP landed into the ears of Universal Records, in which Hinder was introduced into a major record label contract. Although All Music Guide called Extreme Behavior one of the year's worst albums, throughout 2005, the album was heavily anticipated, and Hinder won the monthy Launch! "Who's Next" contest for emerging bands. Their Brian Howes and Mike Fraser produced album, Extreme Behavior, was then set for release in the US.
