New Arrivals, Jazz CDs and More

It has been a while since we sent out a new arrival notice, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy!

Collections, both big and small, have been poring in over the last few months. So much so that we haven’t had the time to separate out and describe them-we have just been working hard at getting the merchandise processed and out on the shelves.

However, we don’t want you to think we have forgotten about you all, so below are a few of the recent highlights.

Over 4,000 Jazz CDs!

We have just bought a very nice collection of over 4,000 bop and post-bop era Jazz CDs.

Similar to the collection we purchased last April, but unlike many large Jazz collections, there are virtually no Big-Band titles. Instead it has thousands of classic recordings from the 50’s through the 70’s. It contains hundreds of OJC’s (many out-of-print limited editions) and other issues of Prestige, Blue Note, Riverside, Verve, and many others labels. Many of them are new cds that are still factory-sealed.

Around 1,500 of these titles have been priced at $4.99 or less and are out in our cheap/budget bins. The rest are in the $5.99 to $9.99 range (multiple-disc sets and a few others higher), and are being processed as you read this. Hundreds are in-stock already, and the rest will be coming out over the next week or two.

Over 4,000 DVDs!

Our DVD section has been growing dramatically this year, and with this recent acquisition of over 4,000 more titles, our bins are overflowing. This collection has a lot of just about everything: drama, comedy, classics, action/adventure, TV series, and more. About half has been processed, and the other half will be going out over the next couple of weeks as time and space allow.

As far as we can tell, we now stock the area’s largest selection of new and used DVDs. We have over 4,000 new titles and around 7,000 used in stock including over 3,000 under $5.00 each; with thousands more still to come!

Over 600 Jazz LPs!

We have purchased several thousand jazz records over the last couple of months from numerous smaller collections. This most recent large collection consists of a very clean selection of titles from the 70’s and early 80’s including around 200 on the ECM label. Heavy on artists such as Keith Jarrett, Carla Bley, Gary Burton, Pat Metheny, Jack DeJohnette, and many others from that era. Most are priced from $1.99 to $4.99.

We also have some happy news to report. As many of you know, our building had been put up for sale about two years ago. There has been a lot of concern that when purchased, we would be forced to move or close. Well, the building was sold late last year, and we are pleased to announce that we have come to terms with the new owner. We have negotiated a new long-term lease, and intend to stay where we are for the foreseeable future. We look forward to many more years of serving our loyal customers!
