Just Arrived: Over 4,000 Jazz LPs!

We have just bought a very interesting, large jazz collection. The vast majority of these records are 70’s pressings of traditional jazz music of the 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s with some big-band and jug music as well. The records and covers are, for the most part, immaculate. It is a pleasure to see so many fine jazz LPs in such great shape.

Many of these titles are imports or are on obscure private labels; these are not records we see everyday. We have priced almost all at $1.00 to $3.99 per disc (we are out of space and are hoping to sell these quickly) with a few titles higher.

This collection includes many recordings of notable musicians such as Louis Armstrong, Gene Krupa, Charlie Barnett, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington (of course!), Sidney Bechet, Art Tatum, Coleman Hawkins, Chic Webb, and dozens of others. It also features many vocalists like June Christy, Rosemary Clooney, Doris Day, Billie Holiday, and many more.

Around 2,600 of the jazz records priced $1.99 and up are in-stock already, and the remaining few hundred will be coming out over the next day or two. 700 or so of the $1.00 records are out, with about 600 to follow shortly. Everything will be out by the weekend.

Because of space problems, we are forced to be a little creative fitting them in the store. Around a half of the records are in new arrival bins in the center aisle before the regular jazz section. The other half are in bins below the jazz albums section. Sorry to make you folks stoop, but we hope you’ll find it worthwhile. As usual, the $1.00 records are in bins below as well, but we have kept them separate from the others.
