Amongst other things, we’ve just bought over 4,000 Jazz CDs!

We have just bought a very nice collection of over 4,000 bop and post-bop era Jazz CDs.

Unlike many large Jazz collections, there are virtually no Big-Band titles. Instead there are thousands of classic recordings from the 50’s through the 70’s. It contains hundreds of OJC’s and other issues of Prestige, Blue Note, Riverside, Verve, and many others labels. The collection also includes over 200 OJC limited editions, some Japanese issues, and dozens of interesting box sets. In addition, there are a couple of hundred Jazz-related International and Blues CDs.

Some of the many notable artists well-represented are Grant Green, Andrew Hill, Gene Ammons, Bill Evans, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, and Dexter Gordon. But that is just a sampling; just about every major Jazz musician from that time period has something here.

Around 2,000 of these titles have been priced at $4.99 or less and are out in our cheap/budget bins. The rest are in the $5.99 to $9.99 range (multiple-disc sets and a few others higher), and are being processed as you read this. Hundreds are in-stock already, and the rest should be out by the weekend.

Some of the highlights are a great assortment of rare mono versions of classic rock albums including The Door’s “Strange Days”, The Velvet Underground with Nico “S/T” (somewhat scratched, but with an unpeeled banana!), The Who’s “Happy Jack”, and five early Bob Dylan titles.
