Steven is currently a senior at Princeton University concentrating in Chemistry with a Certificate in Music Performance. His senior thesis involves chimpanzee blood samples, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, and salt-intake. Although he was classically trained as a violinist and plays in the Princeton University Orchestra, he also plays guitar and synthesizer with his band, “In the Vein of Tom Levin” or “ItVoTL.” (www.myspace.com/itvotl). Given his diverse musical background, Steven likes to think that he has a healthy palette of musical taste…but he’s bound to relentlessly enjoy anything you send his way that has noisy feedback, tribal/sampled drumbeats, and/or reverb-laden vocals. Some of his favorite bands include, but are not limited to: Animal Collective, Elvis Costello, HEALTH, Japanther, No Age, and Whiskeytown.

Steven is from Huntsville, Alabama. Friends have described him as an “inside-out fetus of popular culture.” Steven has a 1976 fixed-gear Raleigh Record named Riley, which he salvaged from a friend’s basement in Brooklyn…before his friend realized it was cool to have a bike in Brooklyn. Steven has black hair, but his facial hairs sometimes contain red and blonde hairs. He likes bicycles, recycling, and bright colors.
