That Guitar man from Central Park; David Ippolito

Self-described as “Acoustic-storytelling like James Taylor might have written if heavily influenced by the Beatles and Broadway.”

[The Music]

The CD I reviewed was “The People on the Hill” My top two favorites were “Thank God for my Guitar,” and the acoustic version of “The Way you look Tonight” And just in time for the Election! His Latest CD has the songs, “Where’s the Voice, Don’t Know Palin, Tom Cruise Scares Me, JesusLand”

[Concert]

I saw him perform on the Westside of the lake in Central Park, NYC close to Strawberry Fields and the John Lennon Memorial on Saturday 10.18.08.

It was a perfect balance of his songs and covers of Bob Dylan, Crosby Stills & Nash and others.

Basically: I didn’t want the concert to end. Most memorable quote of the day: “There are songs that I like, songs that I love, and songs that I wish I wrote, and this is a song that I wish I wrote”— David Ippolito.

Every once in a while we come across the musicians that inspire us, and this is one of them.
