The Kills - Midnight Boom

The Kills new album, “Midnight Boom”, is a great art rock follow up to their album “No Wow”. Fans of the Kills will not be disappointed in the single “Cheap and Cheerful”, which stays true the the Kills’ grungy, dirty style while still presenting new material.

V.V. and Hotel never cease to please their avid hipster fan base, as well as appeal to a broader spectrum of alternative rock enthusiasts. Listeners who are fans of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the White Stripes, and The Raveonettes may especially enjoy this duo’s bass and distorted guitar sound that remains quite dance-able. Other stand-out tracks include “U.R.A. Fever”, which is a bit slow for typical Kills sound, is still just as seductive as “The Good Ones” was. It seems The Kills are capable of having a little fun despite their brooding and bored facade on “The Alphabet Pony”. Current fans will not be let down by the new album, nor will non-listeners be turned away as “Midnight Boom” is as accessible as it is loyal to The Kills’ sound.
