New Arrivals
by jon in Recent Large Collections
Mid-September, 2008
Greetings from Princeton Record Exchange,
Recently arrived: Rock, Folk, and Blues LPs; Opera CDs
The quality record and CD collections just keep coming! This week we have
two to highlight.
We have just put out a collection of over 2,500 LPs and almost 4,000 CDs of
rock, folk, folk/rock, country and blues from the 70s to the 90s. These
come from a real music devotee who lovingly collected for decades.
Meticulously maintained, the covers, vinyl, and discs are in outstanding
shape. This collection is filled with classic albums, but also has a
healthy percentage of harder-to-find, lesser-known artists and titles. From
Combustible Edison to Steppenwolf to Townes Van Zandt; from The Hollies to
Taj Mahal to Meat Puppets; The Monkees, Phil Ochs, Pearl Jam, Gang of Four:
these titles are all over the place!
Most of the LPs are priced from $1.99 to $4.99 with some higher. We are
very out of room, so please look for these in our regular new arrival
section (some higher-priced rarities are filed under the artists’ names).
The 4,000 CDs from the collection are mainly 90s rock as well as many
singer-songwriters, folk, country, and blues on smaller independent labels.
Around 80% went out in our “Cheap CD” sections at under $5 each with the
rest priced at $5.99-$9.99.

We have also just purchased a large Opera CD collection of over 500 titles
in excellent condition. They are being put out now and over the weekend as
time and space allows.
While having many standard pieces, this collection is noteworthy for having
a large number of modern and less common titles. There are, of course, many
Verdi, Mozart, etc, but there are also many by composers like Anton
Rubinstein, Pfitzner, Reyer, Schoek, Zemlinsky, and others.
Most are priced at around $7.00 per disc, and they are in the new arrival
and regular opera sections; pretty much everywhere we can squeeze them in!

And finally, if you are looking for something fun to do this weekend, the
17th annual Princeton Jazz Feast is taking place this Saturday, Sept. 20,
from 12;00 to 6:00 on Palmer Sq. (just two blocks from our store). There is
live jazz music and dozens of food vendors to enjoy. We will have a booth
selling some specially-priced CDs and DVDs. If you get a chance, stop by
and say hello.
Hope to see you soon.
