New Arrivals

by jon in Recent Large Collections

Greetings from Princeton Record Exchange,
Recently arrived: large Beatles vinyl collection including a “Butcher Cover” Yesterday and Today!
Sorry it’s been so long since our last new arrival post.  We were very busy through the holiday season (thank you all our loyal customers!), and while we purchased many collections in January, there were no large ones with easily describable themes.

However, this week we have purchased a very interesting large Beatles and Beatles-related vinyl collection.

The highlight is a “2nd state” (unpeeled), mono, Yesterday and Today “Butcher Cover”.  As a quick recap for those of you who are unaware, this album is infamous for its original cover image featuring the band dressed in white coats and covered with decapitated baby dolls and pieces of meat.  The record was on sale for one day, caused much outrage, and was immediately recalled.  Rather than scrapping the covers entirely, Capitol pasted on a different picture and redistributed them. They are now amongst the most collectable records in the world.  This copy is in very good shape; the vinyl is VG+, and the cover has a small rip in the upper-left corner, and a fold-up on the bottom right of about an inch or so.  We are putting it out for $399.99.

This collection also features mono presses, imports, interview discs, picture discs, tour books, colored vinyl, and other goodies.  About 150 12” LPs Beatles, and solo projects in total.  It also contains over 150 Beatles-related 7” singles including many picture sleeves, most priced $1.99 – $6.99. The 7”s are filed in with our other 45’s (under jazz CDs), and the 12”s are either in the Beatles section or the appropriate solo artist section such as John Lennon, etc.

Hope to see you soon,
Jon
