Record Store Day!

The 2nd annual Record Store Day is this Saturday April 18, 2009!

We here at Princeton Record Exchange are proud to be one of the largest remaining independent record stores in the country and are pleased to be participating in this exciting event.

There are a lot of reasons to visit us and join the fun.  First, of course, we think it’s a great thing to get together with folks who appreciate what an independent record store can do for a community. For almost 30 years, people have had a great time here getting exposed to new music, experiencing the thrill of the hunt, and meeting like-minded devotees.

Second, there is a huge slate of limited edition pieces that are going to be released that day, only to independent record stores. We have ordered about 50 of these titles in including 7″ singles by Tom Waits, Springsteen, Sonic Youth, Leonard Cohen, and others, a 10″ vinyl series by Radiohead, a Pavement live LP, and an Iron and Wine live CD, amongst many others. (Note: quantities are limited–no promises. a complete list of what we ordered is below.)

And finally, we will have a goodly amount of freebies to hand out: 7″ singles, CD label samplers, LP label samplers, promo band CDs, buttons, iron-ons, turntable mats, and more!  Again, no promises, we have limited amounts of each item, but we have a lot in total, so there should be something for just about everyone.

We hope you get a chance to stop by this Saturday and celebrate with us!

One Response to “Record Store Day this Saturday April 18,2009”

  1. Debbi Oriolo Says:

I went to my first record store day yesterday hoping to get the Springsteen single. I wasn’t sure what to expect in the way of crowds, so I got there just after they opened. The customer and staff were great. We helped each other out finding our favorite bands (and I did get Springsteen & Dylan), everyone waited patiently to go through the bin, and no one got greedy with the freebies. We only took a few items each that we really wanted. The staff was great about giving special items to regular customers like me. A fun event that I will definitely attend again next year. Thanks.
