Erika Kapp, our Springsteen CD catalog contest winner!

Erika Kapp, our Springsteen CD catalog contest winner!

In honor of  The Boss’  60th birthday and to celebrate his series of shows that closed down the old Meadowlands, Sony/BMG was kind enough to donate almost the entire Bruce Springsteen CD catalog, 15 CDs and 3 DVDs, for us to give away….thanks guys!

Ms. Kapp was one of over 200 entrants who vied to win this prize, and she won in the random drawing.  Congratulations to her!

We had a lot of fun with this and plan to do more in-store contests in the future… keep your eyes peeled for the next!

Hope to see you soon.

  1. Bob Bembridge Says:

Bruce Springsteen is the most overrated musician in the history of rock and roll — Madonna included. With a few exceptions, Springsteen’s songs are inferior to almost anything one heard on Top 40 radio in the 1960s.

  2. Jeff Boule Says:

I must concur with Mr. Bembridge. Springsteen was and is highly overrated. 4/4 tempos, standard arrangements with extended jam solos, piano organ and sax after piano organ and sax.

I am not denigrating the efforts of the individual musicians themselves, they are more than competent. Max Weinberg, of Conan O’Brien fame, Roy Bitaan, Clarence Clemmons, et al.

My issue is with the inventiveness of the music itself, or lack thereof. There have been more talented vocalists than Springsteen who did not get a fraction of the attention Springsteen gained with his popularity movement in the 80′s.

Gritty shore lyrics and carousel hurdy gurdy type tunes are not worth the promotion the average American was forced to endure during his “Born In The USA” period.

More groundbreaking artists have turned 60 in the past few years and barely anyone but their fans were aware. Because they never had hit credibility like Springsteen. Oh, wait, Daryl Hall turned 60 two years ago. Where was his big day? Upper Darby High never had a Todd Rundgren day yet. The Hooters have not turned 60, they just sound like it. Just to reference the recent Philadelphia celebration at the soon-to-be-ex-Spectrum.

All because he was born to run, in Freehold.
