Just arrived early February, 2007

Almost 200 non-classical audiophile records!

To warm the hearts of collectors on these cold February days, we are pleased to announce the purchase of the largest audiophile collection we have had in years. This pristine collection consists of over 150 Mobile Fidelity "Original Master Recordings", 15 or so DCC Classics, and a dozen or so other audiophile titles. The large selection of Mobile Fidelity's include many Anadisc 200's, dozens of which have very low stamped numbers (100 -500), and many of the classic earlier issues. Almost all are in immaculate condition. Most of these titles are priced in the $25 to $80 range, with some of the most collectable titles a little higher.

Some of the highlights include:

"The Beatles Box" 14 disc Mobile Fidelity box set, with art book, geodisc, and certificate of authenticity, in excellent condition, $799.99

Blood, Sweat, and Tears "S/T", Mobile Fidelity, quickly withdrawn from market due to lawsuit and very scarce, stamped #303, $129.99

Cream "Fresh Cream", DCC Classics, first issue with bonus tracks, $79.99

Over 4,000 Classical CDs!

Starting out the New Year with a Classical bang, we have purchased a large clean collection of over 4,000 titles. It is comprised primarily of basic repertoire recordings on major labels, and features many concertos performed by Richter, Gieseking, Gilels, and other notable pianists. This collection is mostly modern instrumental recordings - not many Opera or historical titles.

Over 2,000 of these CDs have been priced from $1.99 to $4.99 per disc, and are in our Cheap/Budget CD bins. The others are in the $5.99 to $9.99 range and are being processed now. Around 600 have been put out for the weekend in the New Arrival bins, and the rest should be available through the weekend and into early next week.

Over 3,000 Classical CDs!

We have just purchased a very nice classical CD collection of primarily English and French composers such as Elgar, Bax, Bridge, Britton, Saint-Saens, Faure, Massenet, and many others. The majority of these titles are early 20 th century modern including many song cycles, operettas, and a huge amount of chamber music.

Over 2,000 of these CDs have been priced from $1.99 to $4.99 per disc, and are in our Cheap/Budget CD bins. The others are in the $5.99 to $9.99 range and are in the New Arrivals section.

Our successful buying streak of large quality cheap CD collections continues-this time with hundreds of Original Cast/Theatrical Vocal/Personalities CDs. This collection includes many shows from the 60's, Smithsonian's American Songbook Series, DRG Broadway Collections, Varese Sarabande movie soundtracks, and singer compilations by stars such as Mary Martin, Kaye Ballard, and others from that era.

We are now overflowing with tens of thousands of Cheap/Budget CDs in all genres-all $5 or less each!

Over 10,000 CDs!

We have just purchased a huge collection of over 10,000 (yes, we do mean ten thousand!) mostly Jazz/Big Band CDs:

Originally compiled by an avid lifelong fan, this very clean collection is comprised of roughly 80% Big Band and Vocalists from the 40's - 60's, with most of the remainder being more-modern Jazz and Soundtracks/Shows.

Over 8,000 of these CDs have been priced from $1.99 to $4.99, and are in our Cheap/Budget CD bins. Obviously it is difficult to describe a collection this size in any detail, but to give you some idea, it includes thousand of Big Band/ Jazz titles by artists such as Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Sidney Bechet, and many, many others of that era. The Vocalists include, just to name a few, Ella Fitzgerald, The Andrews Sisters, Sarah Vaughan, Maxine Sullivan, and Bing Crosby. Amongst the hundreds of different labels, there are many titles on ASV, Columbia , Jazz Archive, Pablo, Storyville, and complete series of the Classics label.

This collection is selling briskly, so we hope to get a chance to visit us soon.

Also just in: over 1,000 Jazz LPs!

This is a nice, very clean collection of primarily 50's recordings of Jazz artists, some featuring vocalists. While there are not a lot of original pressings, there is a high concentration of uncommon imports. The records and covers are almost all in excellent condition. The collection includes records by Ben Webster, Miles Davis, Art Tatum, Lester Young, Dinah Washington, Billie Holiday, and many others. Labels include RCA imports, Verve imports, Black & White, and more.

We are, as usual, out of display space. Currently, these records are in the floor bins underneath the New Arrival LPs. Please ask at the counter if you need assistance finding them.

Thousands of Cheap CDs!

We have just purchased a huge collection of over 3,000 mostly Jazz CDs:

This very clean collection is comprised of approximately 60% Jazz, 30% Blues, and 10% World. Almost all the CDs are priced from $1.99 to $4.99. While these are not all in the top tier of sought-after CDs, there are hundreds of great titles by Jazz artists such as Chet Baker, Dizzy Gillespie, Chick Corea, Steve Lacy, and The Modern Jazz Quartet. The World CDs include Latin and Mid-East artists as well as some other regions. Blues artists include Otis Rush, Sunnyland Slim, James Cotton, and T-Bone Walker, and this collection also features hundreds of lesser-known, more obscure artists in various genres.

These Cheap CDs are selling briskly, so we hope you get a chance to visit us soon.

We want to take a minute to talk about non-classical LPs. It has been a while since we have purchased a multi-thousand non-classical collection, but that doesn't mean the LPs have not been coming in. In the past month alone we have purchased over 3,000 records-mostly Jazz and Rock as well as some Soul, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Folk and more. It is hard to give an accurate overview, because these smaller collections, 100 to 700 titles in general, tend to be varied, with no real easy-to-describe theme, but we thought you should be aware that non-classical records continue to be a vital portion of our store. If you are looking for a good selection of vinyl, we are confident you will find a trip here worthwhile.

As a final note, we have just finished marking down over 2,000 Classical LPs.  Almost all ended up priced at $1.00 per disc. We are out of room, as usual, so we have been forced to keep these in bins on the floor, but if you don't mind a little stooping, you will find a huge selection of inexpensive Classical LPs.

Opera! Opera! Opera!

We have just acquired a massive collection of Opera records and CDs:

Over 1,000 complete Opera LP Box Sets.

Almost all are priced at only $1 per disc. Virtually all are in near-mint condition.

Our store is packed to the rafters, so we have had to be a little creative finding space for these LPs. You will find them located below Classical LPs, Rock LPs as well as below Opera CDs, Jazz CDs and nearby...just look for Box Sets below all around our store. We will be happy to help you if you need assistance.

These CDs are mostly basic Opera repertoire on major labels, and are mostly contemporary recordings. The packages and discs are in excellent condition.  Most of these complete Opera box sets are priced in the $9.99 to $23.99 range. We are keeping the prices low because we need the turnover!

We are pleased to have such a large addition to our Opera selection.  Whether you are a casual buyer or an avid collector, we think you will find much of interest in this collection.

Over 1,000 used Opera CDs!

We have purchased three large Opera CD collections that together total over 1,000 titles.

All three are similar in make-up in that they are mostly basic Opera repertoire on major labels. These collections feature many performances on RCA, EMI, Philips, London , Erato, Teldec, and DG.

These Opera box sets are mostly CD reissues of performances from the 1970's and original recordings from the 80's. The packages and discs are in excellent condition. Most titles are priced in the $15.99 to $23.99 range.

We are happy to have such a large addition to our Opera CD selection. If you are looking to fill some holes in your library, or are interested in starting your own basic Opera collection, it's a good time to visit us.

Over 3,000 records!

We have just put out in stock a huge record collection of over 3,000 titles.

This collection was originally acquired through the 70's and early 80's by a person who was intending to open a collector's store. The store never materialized, but an excellent selection of Oldies, R & B, Soul, and Rock LPs was accumulated in the process.

The collection is mostly comprised of music from the 50's, 60's and the 70's, with many re-issues. Around ¾ of the titles are still factory-sealed (very uncommon for a collection of this size), and the rest are in near-mint condition. Most are priced in the $2.99 to $9.99 range.

It contains a mix of domestic and import pressings on labels such as Solid Smoke, Rhino Golden Archives, Atlantic , Motown (many 70's re-issue series), Relic, Chess, Collectables, and Crystal Ball.

Over 1,700 Laser Discs!

We have just put out in stock a massive Laser Disc collection totaling over 1,700 pieces.

As you might imagine from the quantity of discs, there is a wide variety of types of movies, but to give a general idea, they are mostly mainstream, big-name movies-heavy on action, sci-fi, horror, comedy, classics and drama. The selection also includes a smaller percentage of Criterion Collection, foreign, and independent films.

The covers and discs are almost without exception in excellent condition. Because of the dominance of DVDs in the marketplace, we have priced these Laser Discs very low-most are $2.99-$3.99 (some foreign and deluxe editions higher).

EASY PARKING:
A new parking deck with 500 additonal parking spaces has just opened 200 feet past our Store (on 20 South Tulane St.). For more details, please visit our CD and record store parking page.

Entrance one: to enter the parking deck, drive past
our CD store on 20 South Tulane Street, make a left into
the adjacent parking lot, exit the lot onto Spring
Street, and enter the parking deck.

Entrance two: there is also an entrance on Wiggins Street, which runs parallel to Nassau Street and is located at the end of North Tulane Street and end of Vandeventer Street (571 Washington Road).

Parking fees: park for less than thirty minutes and there is no charge. After thirty minutes, the parking rate is $1 per hour, except .25 cents per 2 hours on Sunday. You have the option to pay three different ways: Smart Card (local card with discounts for repeat users), credit card, or cash.

We have greatly expanded our selection of new and used DVDs: over 10,000 titles in our growing selection of comedy, TV, Anime, Classic, Disney, Family, History, Musicals, Shows, Sports, Western, Action, Comedy, Documentary, Fantasy, Horror, Childrens, Criterion, Drama, Foreign, Music, Jazz, Rock, Classical, SciFi, TV, Documentary, & Imports and more.

We still sell many Laser Discs, most under $2 each.

SELL OR TRADE-IN:
