We
have been buying and selling Jazz CDs & Jazz records
for over 20 years! Founded in 1980, Princeton Record Exchange
is an independent record store in historic downtown Princeton,
New Jersey, about one hour from New York City and Philadelphia.
Princeton New Jersey is easily accessible by car,
train and
bus. See
our directions page
for details.
Browse
and buy from over 10,000 Jazz CDs, Jazz LPs, and a growing selection
of Jazz DVDs as well as 150,000 CDs, LPs and DVDs at our
New Jersey store. We are always looking to add to our collection.
We are especially interested in BeBop and Modern Jazz
Records, as well as many genres/eras of Jazz
CDs.
Information on Selling Your Jazz CDs, Jazz Records & more by Musicians, Labels,
etc.
We
are very interested in enhancing our selection of new and
used CDs, DVDs & LPs. Discs, Cases/Covers, and liner
notes must be in excellent condition. The following links list some of the artists, labels and formats
that we are especially interested in buying and selling.
For
more general information about how to sell Jazz CDs and
other genres and formats to Princeton Record Exchange, please
visit our sell Jazz CDs and other
CDs, Records and DVDs page.
Sell Modern Jazz
CDs, Bebop, Mosaic CDs, Free Jazz, Classic Jazz, Fusion & Big Band CDs and much more
We
pay from $1 to $4 per disc for most Modern Jazz CDs, including
many of the labels listed below under the Jazz Records section.
We pay $6 or more per disc for most Mosaic CDs (which generally come in box sets).
For more
detailed information about selling your jazz CD collection,
please see our sell Jazz
CDs & more page. We buy most labels of every style of Jazz music on Jazz CDs.
When you sell Jazz CDs to us, please note that discs, cases,
liner notes, must be in excellent condition with no evidence
of mildew, water damage, mold, or excessive dirt.
Sell Jazz Records to Princeton Record Exchange
We typically pay up to $1.00 or more for many Jazz LPs, and far more for many 1950s and 1960s BeBop and Modern Jazz LPs. We are always looking for sought-after titles, and there are some
rarities that we pay much more for. On the other hand, there are
many LPs that we can not use at all because they are scratched,
weak-sellers, or we have too many of them. We base our offer on
what we expect to resell the item for and its condition. LPs that
are scratched, scuffed, or moldy will get only a fraction of our
top prices.
There are too many details relating to the LP market to list on
this page. For more specific info, please see our selling
LPs info page, or call us at 609-924-3472 to discuss your collection.
Sell
Jazz DVDs
We
are very interested in enhancing our rapidly growing selection
new and used Jazz DVDs.
We pay up to $4 per disc for strong selling Jazz DVDs. Discs,
Cases, and liner notes must be in excellent condition. To
learn more about selling Jazz DVDs, please visit sell
jazz DVDs online, or for general information sell
Jazz DVDs. Also visit music
DVDs and Jazz SACDs.
Sell
Jazz SACD (Super Audio CD) & DVD Audio (DVD-A)
We
are very interested in emerging formats. We pay up to $4
each, and we are looking to buy Jazz SACD (Super Audio CD)
and Jazz DVD Audio (DVD-A) as more titles become available.
Buy
Jazz CDs & Jazz Records at our NJ Music Store
Our
jazz selection consists of over 15,000 titles, with new
arrivals every day. Our inventory consists of many of the
labels and performers on Jazz Compact
Discs and Jazz LPs listed below on this page. Our Jazz
collection includes BeBop CDs and BeBop records, Modern
Jazz, Classic Jazz, 3rd Stream, Fusion, Free Jazz, Vocalists
and Soloists to Big Band from the 1930s to the present.
Almost
all of our used CDs are priced under $9, most used records
are priced under $10, and the large majority of our used
DVDs are priced under $12. Certain original 50s and 60s
Jazz LPs sell for much more. We have many Jazz CDs priced
under $5 each, as well as jazz records priced under $2 each.
We deal with many small independent distributors who reissue some of the most sought-after Jazz records by artists like Big John Patton, Eddie Harris, Art Ensemble of Chicago, and artists on the Actuel and Flying Dutchman labels.
We also have hundreds of original Jazz music rarities on labels such as Blue Note, Prestige, Riverside, and Atlantic priced much lower than most city record stores. Visit our Jazz Records page for more information.

Detailed
information on Listing and Selling Jazz Records
Below
is specific information about labels of Jazz Records that
we are most interested in buying .
There
are many other artists and labels of interest to us that are
not listed due to space limitations.
Please
note that most early jazz pressings have a "deep groove":
This is a circular indented groove approximately 1/2" from
the outer edge of the record label on both sides of the LP
itself. Your fingernail can fit inside of this groove.
It is helpful if you know whether your records have this.
To
get top-prices when you sell Jazz records to us, the vinyl
and covers must be in excellent shape; there must be no scratches,
scuffs, mildew, mold, water damage, excessive dirt, or warping.
Please inspect your Records carefully and note any damage.
While
we buy many CD and DVD collections through the mail, most
LP collections that we buy come from customers that live within
2-3 hours from Princeton, NJ. You are welcome to fill out
our sell records questionnaire or call us to discuss your
collection, but please be aware that many records do not have
a high enough value or are not in good enough condition to
make shipping worth while. It is generally best to bring them
to our Princeton, NJ store, but we do recommend that you speak
with one of our appraisers first, or see LP
genres of interest to us and LPs
we have little interest in to make sure we don't waste
your time. Also note, we do not buy Big Band LPs, such as
Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman.

Following
the Label Information below is a specific listing of more
desirable artists of special interest to us on both Jazz
CDs and Jazz Records.
Pressing
information of popular Jazz labels including general price
ranges of what we pay.
The
value of many vintage Jazz records is to a large extent based
on which pressings they are. In many cases, one can determine
the pressing by the images or specific phrases on the labels
of the records. Take the record out of its jacket and match
up the label to the info listed below. We do not have the
space to list everything (it would make a large book!), but
we have tried to list the most popular, and desirable, labels.
Be aware that there is a wide range of value within these
labels-we are just trying to provide some general guidelines.
Please
note that the prices listed below are subject to change due
to supply and demand and other factors. Also keep in mind
that scratches, scuffs, mold, and other damage will substantially
reduce the value.
